Women are the heart of conservation

WCCI believes that women are at the heart of transforming African conservation and building resilient futures through nature-based climate solutions. WCCI’s environmental conservation and restoration focuses on restoring local ecosystems that provide climate mitigation, while providing benefits to communities including traditional food sources. Working directly on environmental conservation and restoration also helps people understand the systemic impacts and possible mitigation of climate change, and to realize the role that individuals and communities play in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adapting. Investing in community conservation creates a ripple effect that yields multiple benefits not only for individual women but also for families, communities and countries. WCCI’s Women Centered Community Conservation approach creates a platform for indigenous knowledge sharing on ecosystem restoration and management as well as biodiversity protection, while promoting a global and local decarbonized economy for safe, equitable and sustainable livelihoods
