WCCI-Uganda is a registered NGO in Uganda where it is coordinated from Kampala. Meet the project lead and board below.

Godliver Businge, Country Coordinator, Uganda

Godliver Businge is an agile, double trained officer with training as a technician (civil works) and community development worker. She is a passionate Water Sanitation and Hygiene champion with over 8 years’ experience of working with rural grassroots communities from Uganda Kenya and Tanzania at Global Women’s Water Initiative (GWWI) and Uganda Women’s Water Initiative (UWWI) in accelerating access to safely managed Water Sanitation and Hygiene facilities.

Her specialty is training, designing and constructing low cost environmentally friendly technologies like toilets (micro flush, pour flush, composting, eco sans, double VIP toilet), Bio sand filters, rain water harvesting tanks, promoting vermiculture and energy saving stoves. She also identifies new appropriate technologies and traditional knowledge as well as coordinating and mobilizing communities around the interconnected impacts of climate change in their vulnerable communities. She not only develops the technologies but also passes on the same skills to grassroots women and men through hands on trainings across East Africa.

Comfort Hajra Mukasa, Executive Director, Uganda

Comfort is a public health and climate resilience specialist and the. She leads a women-driven movement that delivers “One Stop Climate Solutions” across Africa, advancing low-cost, community-led climate and water innovations that ensure no one is left behind.

With more than 20 years of experience in public health and WASH programming, Comfort has held leadership roles including District Health Inspector in Gomba District, Public Health Specialist with the Ministry of Water and Environment, Programme Manager at Amref Health Africa in Uganda, and Director of Programmes at WaterAid Uganda.

She is also the founder of the Uganda Women’s Water Initiative, a platform that empowers women to become solution providers in water, sanitation, and entrepreneurship.

Comfort holds a Bachelor of Environmental Health Science and a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Makerere University in Uganda.
